Our Story
Hi, I’m Shalini Prashar, and together with my partner Gagandeep Bhutani, we’re the founders of YukonCaRT. Last year, I moved to Whitehorse, Yukon, and while exploring this beautiful region, I was captivated by the creativity, resilience, and passion of the local vendors. From handmade crafts to fresh produce, I discovered so many unique products that truly reflected the spirit of the Yukon.
However, I also noticed the challenges these vendors faced. Many relied on seasonal markets, struggled with limited customer reach, or didn’t have the resources to build an online presence or maintain a physical store. At the same time, I saw how difficult it was for customers to find and purchase these local products conveniently.
This inspired me to create YukonCart – a platform that bridges the gap between local vendors and the community. My vision was simple: to build a space where vendors could showcase their products without the hassle of managing a website or paying hefty fees to existing stores, and where customers could easily discover and support local businesses.
